Top 5 Port Douglas Wedding Venues.

Ceremony locations in Port Douglas, Queensland.

As I embark on my 7th year (or 8th 🤷‍♂️) as a wedding photographer, I believe it's time to create an informative and helpful blog about ceremony locations in Port Douglas. These 5 picks have come from the raving reviews of the couples and my personal experience working at each location. Port Douglas is constantly evolving with new and luxurious venues providing options for all types of weddings. There are still ceremony locations I’m still yet to visit and photograph.

Let’s get straight to the point… Port Douglas, located in Far North Queensland, is a popular wedding destination known for its stunning scenery and relaxed, tropical atmosphere. With its picturesque 4 Mile beach, lush rainforests, and close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, it's no wonder so many couples choose Port Douglas for their special day. Plus, who doesn’t want to combine a wedding and holiday into a week-long getaway? Whether you're looking for a romantic beach wedding, hosting a large celebration on a Sugar Wharf, or planning an intimate micro-wedding, Port Douglas has something to offer every bride and groom.

St Mary's by the Sea

An icon of Port Douglas. St Mary’s is a charming white-washed chapel, surrounded by tropical gardens and a view that looks out towards the Coral Sea. The chapel can accommodate a small to medium-sized wedding ceremony, making it a popular choice for couples looking for a more intimate wedding experience. It’s fully airconditioned, within walking distance to the Sugar Wharf, guest accommodation and all your photo locations.

Little Cove

Little Cove is a dream come true for couples seeking a laid-back, beachfront wedding. The stunning view of the ocean is framed by palm trees and will blow the minds of your guests! It's important to remember that Little Cove is an open space and if the weather starts to turn grey the best option is to bring some umbrellas. Welcome to the tropics—it's best to embrace whatever weather comes your way. In short, Little Cove at Port Douglas is a slice of heaven for those looking for a relaxed, beachy wedding (without getting your feet sandy) that captures the essence of this tropical paradise.

The Barn at Rocky Point

Located 25 minutes North of Port Douglas The Barn at Rocky Point is one of the newer venues on the wedding scene. The Barn is surrounded by the Daintree mount range, includes beachfront access perfect for a ceremony and has a modern barn for receptions with a large guest list. It’s recommended to hire a bus to transport your guests from Port Douglas to The Barn. If you want your ceremony and reception in one spot The Barn is a place to keep in mind.

Niramaya Villas

If you're looking for a wedding venue that's all about relaxation, luxury, and tropical vibes, Niramaya Villas might just be the place for you. The resort has several outdoor locations that are perfect for wedding ceremonies, including its tropical gardens and poolside terrace. The spacious and elegant villas have also been a popular choice for elopements. Side note: Niramaya is also one of my favourite places to document the bride and groom prep.

Rob’s Beach Shack

My last pick is perfect for an intimate elopement. The shack is a unique and beautiful beachfront property located on Four Mile Beach. Ceremonies take place in the front yard overlooking 4 Mile Beach. This space offers stunning views of the ocean, making it a memorable spot to get married. With the ability to hold up to 30 people for sit-down or cocktail-style receptions, Robs Beach Shack is sure to provide an unforgettable experience for you and your guests.
