Steph + Nathan | Postponed wedding date turned into an intimate Engagement Session
The 16th of May should have been the day Steph and Nathan celebrated their wedding day and 6th anniversary with all their friends and family. However... Rona arrived and cancelled their wedding day. It didn't stop these two making the most of a free day. Instead of celebrating with 100 guests, eating delicious food and hosting a massive party, they downsized. Instead, they did an engagement session which included 1 guest (me), a cute picnic with doughnuts and a sunset paddle on Lake Eacham. The biggest surprise happened when they told me they would read their vows to each other. It was one of the most intimate and special moments I've witnessed during an engagement session. Steph read from her original handwritten letter and Nathan spoke from the heart.
“It was so much fun and something I recommend all Covid couples do! Looking back, it was the best thing we could have done - still got dressed up, had a bit of a date and a fun shoot! It was a way of taking our power back for the day - we were too busy having fun to be sad. Plus we were able to get used to being in front of a camera which I'm so glad we did!” - Steph
QUICK TIP: Think of an engagement session as a date with your significant other and having a photographer third-wheeling. The best thing to do is pick an activity you enjoy doing together or a favourite place that is special for the two of you. Do you like snacks? Bring a picnic basket with your favourite nibbles and drinks. Are you adventurous? Bring your abseiling gear or kayaks and let’s go on an adventure! Perhaps you enjoy spending time with your dog in the backyard or hanging out on a couch in your living room! There is no right answer and the engagement session should reflect your personalities.
